Landing Page = the web page that a visitor first lands on.

Keyword = the words that a visitor typed into the search engine that displayed your ad which they clicked on.

Unless you are the top of the top company in your area you most likely find it difficult to claw your way to the top of the Google search engine results...

Err did I say difficult? Ok... impossible!

So if you want you business to be found without the hundreds of hours it takes to make it to the top of the natural search results then you're going to need to get involved with search engine marketing.

Search engine marketing really is an effective way to generate traffic, but it's also a very quick way to waste money. The difference between ad campaigns that waste money and make money is tracking and landing page design.

You have seconds to give a visitor exactly what they want and call them to make the action that you want. This isn't something that can be done on the first try. You continually test different landing page designs and texts to find out which one performs the best.

With measuring landing page performance you will also want to measure how your keywords are performing. Some keywords will cost thousands and return hundreds while others will cost hundreds and return thousands.

There is no certain formula on how a keyword or landing page will perform, but with the right tracking methods you can see which sale or lead is delivered by which keyword and landing page.
